Defensive Handgun (Tier I)

This is the basic course for PRACTICAL handling and use of a handgun in defensive applications.
SMD approach is unique in that philosophies and techniques are effective in static as well as
dynamic situations. Tier I is a one day course introducing and practicing a philosophy requiring
few techniques; easily understood and utilized to protect oneself while stationary or moving.
The advanced Tiers (II & III) expand on this philosophy and techniques to include more specific
static and dynamic training along with a deeper sense of decision making.

Classroom- Safety review.
– Philosophy of defense.
– Static and movement.
– Introduction to defensive techniques.
– Classroom practice utilizing CTS Air Soft and SIRT LASER Pistols.

RANGE
– Safety review.
– Live fire practice of reviewed techniques.
– Static and movement techniques.
– Reaction drills.
– Multiple threats.
– Students to bring a firearm, two hundred and fifty (250) rounds of ammunition, OWB or similar holster.
– Eye and hearing protection.
